In an exclusive interview with Yahoo Style, the Muslim pop-star talks about her journey to success. From being discovered on the internet to amassing celebrity fans like Gigi Hadid and The Roots to recording with artists like Pharrell and Jhen√© Aiko. "And I'm not going to be writing any songs about going to 'da club' and sexing it up," she laughs, "but I still think I'm pretty cool and stylish. Right?" As you may or may not know, the 29-year-old Muslim-Malaysian artist taught herself guitar via YouTube, performed on local TV while getting a law degree, just signed her first record contract, officially met Pharrell, has a million twitter followers, and best of all, landedd on the iTunes Top Albums chart, and charmed the crowd at Lollapalooza...


She moved to LA and landed a new Verve contract with music legend David Foster ("the nicest man, and such a genius in the studio"), recorded Aladdin's "Whole New World" for the best-selling We Love Disney album and did the vocals for H&M commercials.
